New Year in London

Some years ago I prepared this didactic unit about the future. You may find it interesting. PLANNING YOUR NIGHT Complete the following text with
these headings. HEADING NUMBER A Allow more time B Check before you trek! C Fireworks. D For the best view watch live on TV. E Limited capacity. F Plan your journey. G Pets and pushchairs. H Tickets? I Wrap up warm. (1) _______________________________________________________________. Before you set out for the night, think about your route out and back. (2) _______________________________________________________________ if you are near a television at midnihgt, it's all being screened live by BBC One. Many barsa nd pubs in central London also show the big Ben chimes and fireworks live on TV, so there's no need to spen several hours outside waiting on a cold December night. (3) _______________________________________________________________. If your are planning to be in town on New Years's Eve itself, remember -it gets very crowded. London will have one of its busiest nights of the year, as revellers head to bars, restaurants and clubs to bring in the new decade and many places will be ticketed or need to be booked in advance. Remember tickets are not required to view the fireworks. If you are offered or sold a ticket, please advise a steward or a police officer. (4) _______________________________________________________________. Large crowds in central London will have an impact on moving around the area, so allow extra time when heading out and bear in mind you may have to walk further or even out of your way to get to where you need to be. (5) _______________________________________________________________. Only a proportion of those celebrating in central London will be able to wathc the fireworks int he viewing areas, which will close as soon as they are full, in previous years some parts of the viewing areas have been as early as 21.00. Don't suddenly decide to leave the bar or party at a few minutes to midnight - you won't be able to get in - and you won't be able to see the firewoks. Even if you head down early there is no guarantee you will be able to get in. (6) _______________________________________________________________. As a result of the crowds the event may be unsuitable for young children, and we straongly recommend that you do not bring buggies or pushchairs with you to the event. Also, pets will not be allowed in the viewing areas, however assistance dogs are welcome. (7) _______________________________________________________________.. We have a fantastic display planned, therefore please do not bring your own fireworks to the event. (8) _______________________________________________________________.. Don't get caught out by the cold weather. (9) _______________________________________________________________. In the event of bad weather or other major incident, we will update our plans online here and via our Twitter alerts.
